奧萬大森林遊樂區有豐富多樣的森林生態資源，

氣候環境涼爽高溼，擁有天然棲息環境，

且不施用農藥等人為干擾，因此非常適合螢火蟲的生長與繁殖，

園區內以4-5月成蟲的發生期最為壯觀，
